nachstehend − leider nur auf Englisch und weiter unten auf Spanisch − ein Aufruf von ProDH und Amnesty Mexiko zu weltweiten Aktionen vor mexikanischen Botschaften/Konsulaten am 30.4. bezüglich 2 Jahre Straflosigkeit in Atenco (die Fälle von Vergewaltigung und Folter im Mai 2006).

Dear colleagues,

On the night of May 3 and the early morning of May 4 May 4, 2006, more than 2,500 state and federal Mexican police descended on the small town of San Salvador Atenco, Mexico State, to repress members of a social movement protesting in support of local flower sellers who had been displaced from their traditional place of business.

*The outcome of this police operation included over 200 arbitrary detentions, the deaths of two young people and the torture and abuse of scores of others. The victims included 47 women, many of whom were systematically tortured by Mexican police through rape and beatings while blindfolded.*

In 2008, two years after the events in San Salvador Atenco, not one police officer has been brought to justice for the serious crimes committed. The police continue to enjoy impunity despite strong condemnation from the United Nations Committee Against Torture (CAT) and Committee for the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), as well as from international observation missions to Mexico. Join in solidarity with the women of Atenco to demand justice and that Mexico must demonstrate that the sexual torture of women detainees by police is not a State sanctioned practice.

This month, the Miguel Agustín Pro Juárez Human Rights Center (Center Prodh) and Amnesty International Mexico, along with international collaborators and the 11 women of Atenco whose cases Center Prodh is currently defending, are convoking an action of support in front of Mexican embassies around the world against the ongoing impunity in this case.

*We ask you to support the women of Atenco by joining with others outside your nearest Mexican embassy on April 30^th , 2008.* *BRING YOUR CAMERA:* during your action of support, take a picture of the group outside your embassy and email your photo to Center Prodh(internacional3 AT centroprodh PUNKT org PUNKT mx
* We will give your photo directly to the women of Atenco as a message of solidarity, as well as sending it to the Mexican government and including it in a multimedia press conference in Mexico to be held on May 2. Together from all around the world we will demonstrate our solidarity to the Mexican government, marking the two-year anniversary of these human rights violations by demanding justice for the victims.***

We will be in touch with a reminder email and further information about this action and how to get involved before April 30. We will also be in contact with further updates on the Atenco case and on other actions being planned for the upcoming months.

Los días 3 y 4 de mayo de 2006, más de 2,500 policías estatales y federales llegaron al pueblo de San Salvador Atenco, Estado de México, para reprimir a miembros de un movimiento social que habían manifestado su apoyo a vendedores locales de flores que habían sido desplazados del lugar donde tradicionalmente trabajaban.

*El saldo de dicho operativo policiaco incluyó más de 200 detenciones arbitrarias, la muerte de dos jóvenes y la tortura de decenas de personas;*

*47 de las víctimas fueron mujeres, muchas de ellas fueron encapuchadas, violadas y torturadas de manera generalizada por policías mexicanos de los tres niveles de gobierno: federal, estatal y municipal.*

En 2008, dos años después de los eventos en San Salvador Atenco, ni un solo policía ha sido castigado por los delitos graves que cometieron.

Los policías siguen gozando de impunidad a pesar de las fuertes críticas por parte del Comité Contra la Tortura (CAT), del Comité para la Eliminación de la Discriminación contra la Mujer (CEDAW) de las Naciones Unidas y de otras organismos internacionales.

Únete en solidaridad con las mujeres de Atenco para reclamar justicia y manifestar que el Estado mexicano está obligado a comprobar que la tortura sexual de mujeres detenidas por policías no es una práctica avalada por el mismo.

Este mes, el Centro de Derechos Humanos Miguel Agustín Pro Juárez (Centro Prodh), en conjunto con Amnistía Internacional México, está convocando a una acción de solidaridad frente a las embajadas mexicanas en todo el mundo para protestar contra la impunidad en este caso. El Centro Prodh está llevando la defensa legal de 11 de las mujeres de Atenco y convoca a esta acción junto con ellas.

*Pedimos tu apoyo, uniéndote con otros afuera de la embajada mexicana más cercana el día miércoles 30 de abril de 2008.* *TRAE TU CÁMARA:* Durante la acción saca una foto de tu grupo afuera de la embajada y mándala por correo a Centro Prodh (internacional3 AT centroprodh PUNKT org PUNKT mx).
*Daremos tu foto directamente a las mujeres como mensaje de solidaridad y también se las daremos al gobierno mexicano, además incluiremos las fotos en una presentación multimedia que será exhibida en la conferencia de prensa que realizaremos el 2 de mayo. Juntos demostraremos al gobierno mexicano nuestra solidaridad con las víctimas para conmemorar el segundo aniversario de estas violaciones de derechos humanos.***

Estaremos en contacto con más avisos e información sobre la acción y los modos de involucrarse antes del 30 de abril. También estaremos en contacto con actualizaciones sobre el caso Atenco y otras acciones planeadas para los siguientes meses.

Para lo inmediato, algunas acciones claves son:

· Favor de mandar este correo a colegas y amistades

· Si estás en los Estados Unidos o Canadá, te enviaremos informes más precisos sobre el horario del evento, que podría caer el día 29 de abril.

· Si no puedes involucrarte en el evento, favor de anotar la dirección de la embajada mexicana y escribir una carta al respecto.
